Anthony Riggins and Dr. Lee Hambrick have our home all decorated for Christmas in Oakland CA’s most historical neighborhood. Our neighborhood was designed by the noted Boston grandsons of Franklin Law Olmsted who was the landscape architect for Central Park in Manhattan. Crocker Highlands is a very special 1920s neighborhood. It does take the annual help of East Bay Nursery saving a tree for us while we are in New Orleans for Thanksgiving each year. Next up is having the best Christmas decorator, Mr. Frank Eddy and his regular elves decorate the tree, mantle, and front yard. We love duplicating New Orleans Bevolo outdoor gas lanterns by having red bows on ours. Frank is from New Orleans, so he gets it! They make the beauty happen with our ornaments and home’s beautiful architecture by W.W. Dixon. If you think this is good service, they come back and take every ornament off the tree and store them back in our basement. Even the tree branches all get cut off then carried out of the front door. Then the remaining tree trunk goes away. We decided years ago that if one of us fell off the two 10’ ladders decorating the 14’ tree that it could all be over. We believe our lives are worth more than Frank’s fee. Thank you, Frank and East Bay Nursery, for making Christmas effortless every year. Now, it’s time for some Christmas cheer under this tree.
