Head Designs
05/02/2026
Good Morning Beautiful Community,
First, I simply want to say thank you.
The last five months have been some of the most emotionally challenging months of my 7 plus eras, and I truly could not have navigated this season without the love, kindness, encouragement, and emotional support of my extended community. Your calls, messages, prayers, appointments, patience, and presence have meant more to me than I can fully express.
Thank you for carrying me through.
Now… I’m working on getting fully back in the saddle, rebuilding rhythm, restoring balance, and continuing to move Head Designs forward with creativity, beauty, and purpose. And yes — I still need your support as I continue this journey.
I’m looking forward to reconnecting with those of you I haven’t seen in the last few months. Please schedule your appointments, come in, let’s catch up, and continue supporting the business as we move into this new season together.
Like many small businesses, Head Designs has evolved. A number of longtime clients — nearly one-third of my consistent clientele — have retired, relocated, transitioned into new lifestyles, or moved out of state. Naturally, that changes the rhythm and flow of the business as well.
But with change comes creativity.
And as part of this new phase and transition, Head Designs is also receiving a gentle facelift.
Over the next few weeks, you’ll notice fresh paint, a few design updates, and new artistic touches throughout the salon space. I’ve been wanting to refresh the energy of the environment, making it feel even more beautiful, inspiring, calming, and welcoming.
One addition that is especially meaningful to me is a beautiful painting from my mother’s collection by artist Nancy Bertinelli of Shreveport, Louisiana.
Nancy Bertinelli — the mother of actress Valerie Bertinelli — was an incredibly gifted artist and a friend of my mother’s. There’s a long and meaningful story connected to this painting that I’ll share another time, but my mother deeply loved her work and was either gifted or purchased one of her original paintings years ago.
In honor of my mother, I’ll now be bringing that painting into Head Designs.
The piece is absolutely beautiful, and for me it carries love, memory, artistry, family history, healing energy, and transformation — all things that feel deeply connected to this new season in my life and business.
So when you come in, take a moment to enjoy the refreshed space, the new energy, and the beautiful art additions throughout the salon.
One thing I’ve been LOVING lately is doing sets again! Believe it or not, sets are making a beautiful comeback in the industry — and they are SO much fun.
For those who may not remember, a set gives you temporary versatility without making a dramatic or permanent change. You can shift your curl pattern from tighter curls to soft waves, create elegant movement, experiment with texture, or simply enjoy a refreshed look for a special occasion.
And honestly… many women — even women in high visibility and leadership positions — tend to wear the same hairstyle most of the time. Sometimes all it takes is a subtle shift:
• a beautiful set
• an elegant updo
• slicking the hair back with dramatic drop earrings
• a soft wave pattern
• a new shape or color
Small changes can completely transform your mood, your energy, and how you feel walking into a room.
And speaking of special occasions…
I’m so excited to be styling a beautiful bride Memorial Day weekend! I’ll be out of town May 24th–25th in Ukiah preparing a natural-haired bride for her wedding day. I’ll be stretching and enhancing her gorgeous natural curls, and I’m truly honored to be part of such a meaningful life moment.
One of the greatest joys of my profession is being invited into the memorable occasions of my clients’ lives.
To help accommodate scheduling before I leave, I will also be working additional days on May 19th and May 20th.
So if you’ve been trying to get in, need a refresh before the holiday weekend, or simply want to reconnect, this would be a wonderful time to schedule your appointment.
A Few Salon Updates:
• Most services will increase by $5
• Haircuts will NOT increase at this time
I’ve had many clients return after almost a year away telling me the same thing: “The haircut just kept growing out beautifully.”
That actually makes me smile.
Because when I cut hair, I’m using geometry, proportion, precision, and structure. I’m extremely detailed about my lines and shapes, so the haircut transitions gracefully as it grows. The shape softens and evolves rather than simply becoming unwearable.
That said, for the best maintenance and balance:
• 8 weeks is ideal for maintaining your shape
• 10 weeks is ideal if you’re growing your hair out
Beyond that, the haircut may still wear beautifully — just in a different phase and silhouette.
What I’m really working toward now is rebuilding a consistent rhythm in my scheduling and reconnecting regularly with my clients and community.
So… Ready. Set. Go.
I’m back in the saddle and looking forward to seeing you in my chair very soon.
And before I close, I want to give a loving shout-out to all my clients embracing these exciting temporary transformations through sets. I’m having so much fun creating these looks with you.
So think about it…
What new look would YOU like to try?
An updo? A new color? A soft wave? A new silhouette? A glamorous set?
Let’s talk about it at your next visit.
And one last family shout-out…
For all of my expat Californians now living in Texas — if you or your college student are looking for a vehicle, please contact my brother, Jason Moore, at Nissan in Irving, Texas.
Jason recently transitioned from high-end athletic retail management into automotive sales after an incredible career with Foot Locker, where he served as a district manager. He’s compassionate, professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about people.
Tell him his sister sent you.
Thank you again for all your support, love, and encouragement.
Come by, experience the refreshed energy of Head Designs, and allow me to help you explore a new look, a new mood, or simply a renewed sense of yourself.
I look forward to seeing you at Head Designs very soon.
With gratitude,
Sheila Head
