Little Free Community Library Read and Seed

❗❗new growing groups "grow a row heroes" for 2024❗❗

Little Free Community Library Read and Seed will offer two growing groups again. Offering this within my Master Gardener volunteering. One like last year for Bush beans and one with the OSOS long Island Dill Seeds. Every participant will receive free seeds growing instructions and can ask questions etc in the Facebook groups. The goal is to create community by growing the same seed together and exchange the seeds among the participants and the seed library to have locally adapted strains (landrace). Please dm or comment if interested. Growing starts in May.

Seed library Plant portrait: Orach ("purple spinach" ) one of the seeds we offer in the seed library, locally/cng grown - first picture shows new plants that are from last year plants that went to seed and re-seeded itself. Second picture are plants just upcoming from seeds I collected last year and put up recently. I still have some to offer in the seed library.
Eta I just started to harvest a couple of leaves so this makes a nice early spring salad before other plants are ready.

Happy to say that One seed One state Mammoth Long Island Dill Seeds are finally there and ready to be picked up! I have around 12 packages ready right now. Comes with a little brochure with growing instructions. A few will be put in the big library house outdoors today. ❗❗ I would also like to offer a growers group again like last year, with these seeds where everyone grows and then shares seeds among each other (and a couple seeds for the seed library ) at the end if the season to get locally adapted seeds from it. This will be done through a FB group. Comment or DM if interested! ❗❗ETA the growers group/s will be offered with me being a Master Gardener.

Our LFL was one of the Good Morning America book club winners for April! Book club pick has been revealed today and books are out in the library now!
