Spring, it’s time for spring showers to help your flowers, but it may also be time for sump pumps to fail. Here are a few signs that your sump pump may need service.

#1. Old age, the average life of a sump pump is 7-10 years, but can be effected by how often the pump is used, the quality of the pump, and how far the pump has to move the water.

#2. Noise. If your pump is making more noise than normal, is louder, rattles or grinds it should be checked by a professional.

#3. If your pump does not come on when it should, or runs constantly, it could mean that the float is stuck. It may also mean that it needs to be replaced.

#4. Cycling more than normal. This could be caused by an increase in water, but could also be a sign that your pump is not keeping up with the water that is coming into the pit.
