from the bottom of my heart, thank you thank you THANK YOU for your support, encouragement and business.

F&F was actually something I prayed for for years but didn’t know the farm was the answer. I was asking “what do I do” after I had my second baby. How could I continue to provide at home with two kids — if you didn’t know, I’m a hairdresser and working weekends and long nights doesn’t exactly fit in the schedule of a mom. Flowers were never an idea or a dream to me, they quite literally fell into my lap one morning. My grandpa came over, dropped off some seeds and asked if he could pull some shrubs out for me to grow a new flower garden. The simple (semi reluctant) yes turned into the biggest gift. Right there was the answer to my prayer and I didn’t even know I was living it in that moment or for the following 2 years 😅😂 Sharing the joy of flowers is such a treasure and I’m so so grateful we get to do it!!!

From my family to yours, THANK YOU. We can’t wait to see you at the farm this summer 🥹🌸 on farm events launching this week!

Love & flowers,

anyone else notice which one of my children is the class clown 🤡

what started as 20 dahlias has grown into 500!

I’ve had a lot of people tell me they could never do this with kids which I totally get - it’s very challenging but my kids love having ownership over the farm and learning about flowers just as much as we do!

SHEEEESH.

Who knew Facebook could be a scary place. jk but also if you have been around for a while, you know I hate using membrane (started cutting any and all plastics at the age of 10 bc of save the turtles, seriously) but growing 100% free is not an option this season and truthfully, probably not next year either.

Our first year we grew in 100% membrane with mulch on top - pathways and all and I regretted every second of it. I have dialed it back every year after I realized I didn’t want to throw away gobs of plastic or have it in my soil for years. I grow cut flowers for florists, wholesale, weddings & a farmstand. I’m also a one woman show (with toddlers iykyk) most of the time and know my capabilities. Growing without w**d membrane this year is simply not one of them.

Things we did this year to lessen our plastic usage: got rid of all membrane paths and switched to living walkways. Feels sooo good to say that. Grew corms and seedlings in old Tupperware and recycled aluminum for trays 😵‍💫😂 this past fall and winter we added tons of dried leaves as a compost and ground cover to protect the soil, now I’m continuing by adding straw for coverage everywhere we can to protect the soil, keep the feet of the plants happy and also improve soil health at the same time. I want to add - we have old tarps we layer with the holey tarps so we can continue to use them similarly to a silage tarp. It’s not the exact same but it’s far better than throwing the plastic away all together if this is something you’re considering as well.

I had a really fun analogy to share but Facebook seems danger ‼️ zone at the moment so I’ll keep it to myself 😵‍💫😂

my first ever bridal bouquet 📷

recently we’ve had a lot of requests for weddings and if I’m being completely honest - I’m totally cool with being the farmer, not the florist. But in the rare event that one of my og customers is getting married, I want to know what I’m doing! So I took an amazing class and learned a really fancy technique that I’m excited to have in my tool belt!! our summer availability for DIY buckets & events are filling up quickly and I won’t be able to accommodate much more - please contact me on our website if you need flowers or want to host an event here! 🫶🏼🌸

While I wait for the dahlias to show me some blooms, here are some of my favorite dahlias over the years. I have gobs of everyone’s favorites: Rock run ashley, KA’s Cinder Rose, Peaches & cream, CVP, Megan Dean, Linda’s Baby, Isabel & mini CAL in the ground. I’m honestly so excited for how special the color palette is and all of the orders we have for the summer. I try to be so intentional with what I choose to grow.

Anyways - expect to see a ton of your favorites and a few new to me ones as well. Last year my focus was adding new ball dahlias. Ball forms are phenomenal for vase life. This season I added a few new waterlilys like Sandia Bliss, Fawn, Hollyhill Serenity and Sandia Bertha. I’m sure there’s a few more but I’m really looking forward to having them in our collection for a variety of forms. One thing to know about waterlilys though is that they are absolutely stunning. I can’t wait to share them with you!

Something I learned after a few years of growing dahlias is that not every dahlia grower cares the same as the next about the crop their growing/selling 👀

Our first year growing dahlias, we had no powdery mildew. Slowly over the last 4 years it’s become heavier with the large rains and high temps. At the end of last season I made sure we had milstop and cease on deck for the following growing season.

🥛I used to use MILK and dilute it with water, sounds crazy but it worked but the mildew would always come back eventually.

The science behind milstop or cease is that they disrupt the pathogens from germinating on the plants thus no mildew will grow. It’s safe for pollinators and bugs which is great because we’re releasing beneficial bugs like crazy too.

This is the second treatment of Milstop and tomorrow is Molasses to combat leafhoppers before they develop. Gorgeous flowers begin with healthy plants! 🌱

Pray for my neck after this summer & yes, I do have a backpack sprayer 😂 This is my fifth year growing dahlias and I’m still learning new things every year! What’s something you’re doing this year to help your dahlias thrive?

Love & flowers,
Sarah 🫶🏼🌸
