I have decided I am sharing the journey of turning our spaces into something special. Well, now it’s time to put my money (and a lot of sweat equity) where my mouth is… I’m finally remodeling my own house!
Upon moving in, this place had so much potential, but was stuck in the early 1990s time warp 😅
• Old wood floors covered in dings, scratches, and general wear-and-tear
• That super dated carpet in the living room making the whole space feel tiny and closed off
• Kitchen island and backsplash drowning in matching brown/tan brick (why tho?!)
• Walls painted in like 47 slightly different shades of gray… impossible to match when touching up!
• Those dreaded “boob” light fixtures everywhere (you know the ones… I can’t unsee them)
• The dining room chandelier hanging so crooked it literally gives me anxiety every meal
• And don’t get me started on the cabinets—dark, dated brown that just sucks the life out of the room
Starting simple and building up:
1. Ceiling, doors, and trim painting (basic white refresh—nothing fancy, just clean!)
2. Walls (finally unifying the chaos!) and cabinets (big glow-up incoming)
3. Then tackling the island update and swapping out all the lighting
I’d love your help and input! Drop your color ideas for walls/cabinets (thinking light, bright, timeless vibes?), lighting recs (modern flush mounts? statement chandelier?), or any budget-friendly hacks you’ve used in your own renos.
