For the second time in a month our little rescue has taken in a young pregnant cat who ended up going through immense, unnecessary, trauma.

Dot showed up at one of our founders front porch last weekend.
That's the first photo.
Very young, maybe 8-10 months old.
Definitely pregnant.
We made her comfortable and started to make plans to address the circumstances.
Then, Friday evening, her body had other plans. Out popped a Very tiny baby, clearly not "fully baked".
That's the second photo.
Dot was confused. Baby was too small. And worse, no more were coming. So we rushed to the ER, where it was confirmed there were other babies with strong heartbeats, but all we could do was wait. Baby would be bottle fed, mom would be stabilized.
The next day, no more babies. So we called in to our personal cats vet, who graciously rushed in on their day off to perform an emergency c section and spay, and try to save the remaining babies.
That is the third photo.
The original baby from the prior night is on the left, the smallest. Not shown is the baby born with such deformations we made the kindest choice and said goodbye immediately.
30 minutes after that photo, the other 3 passed as well. Their tiny bodies just not formed enough to survive, and fighting some sort of infection.
Mom is fighting an infection too.

So now, a single baby, the first born, is with a wonderful human who has an incubator and is able to hand feed.
Mom is recovering but very weak with a separate foster.
All are exhausted and traumatized.
And the bank accounts are Significantly depleted.

So we're going to say it again, louder.
SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS.
AND KEEP THEM INSIDE.
No they do not want to be parents.
No it's not a right of passage.
No it's not necessary, at all.
But it is extremely dangerous. And selfish.

"Oh! You're back again? What's the excuse this time??"

Anyone else have to deal with setting up a new phone lately? So many deep sighs. Especially since everything for the rescues social media is run via Meta apps that only really want to work on a phone vs a laptop.
Know what we'd rather be doing? Snuggling with our cats!
We're willing to bet you'd rather be snuggling with a cat instead... Well...pretty much anything else 🤷🏼‍♀️😻

If you're missing a snuggly feline friend in your life, head to our website and put in an app. Fiesta Potato here would love to have a new best friend, instead of listening to us complain about technology 😹
