Over the past several years, our society and many of us as individuals have experienced illness, fear, and the breakdown of social bonds and institutions in ways we never imagined. Jewish communities have produced a great deal of wisdom from thousands of years of surviving catastrophes, and their insights can help us rebuild our society in the U.S. and globally. Dr. Dean Bell will use Jewish texts and experiences to show how we can go beyond a return to normalcy by cultivating “complex resilience,” which allows us to learn and grow through disruption. The event will be held at Valley Beth Shalom Synagogue, 15739 Ventura Blvd., Encino.

Apply for the Jewish Studies scholarship this week! Deadline is Friday, July 15. It's open to students who have taken a Jewish Studies course already, have financial need & a 3.0+ GPA, and agree to take one more JS course in the coming academic year.
