When you think you’ve seen it all as a pool tech… and then you find a mouse squatting in your equipment. 🐭🏠 Don’t worry, we evicted our little tenant and got this system back in shape! (No rodents were harmed in the making of this post.)

Renovation in Progress – The Truth Beneath the Surface

Behind every luxury pool is a solid foundation—literally. During this renovation, our team uncovered extensive hollow spots beneath the plaster and inside the spa and pool benches. The cause? Improper installation methods that ignored critical building codes.

According to ANSI/APSP/ICC-5 standards:

“Shotcrete shall be pneumatically applied. Rebound material shall not be reused or used in structural elements such as steps, benches, or coves.”

Unfortunately, this wasn’t followed—and the result was a compromised structure hidden just beneath the surface. Our demolition phase removes all failed materials, including tile, coping, and any weak or hollow plaster, to ensure the new finish bonds properly and lasts for decades.

This is why how it’s built matters just as much as how it looks.
