An obituary is not only a tribute to the deceased person, it is also a piece of history that can be invaluable to those doing a family history.

It's important that you have the correct information in a loved one's obituary. Unfortunately, when your loved one passes away - even though the death may have been expected - there is a time of grief and shock. In most cases, you are asked to provide information for an obituary and burial arrangements right away.

It can be a great comfort to the family if the obituary can be written and proofread days or weeks in advance of a loved one's death.

Perhaps you have an unusual family situation that may take some time to come up with the correct wording. Or you may have to do some research to find some of the information.
