FMS + Technical Development is heavily emphasized in Croatia’s Curriculum over tactics. Why?

Because it’s more important to focus on individual player development than team dynamics at this age.

1. Kids need to learn how to move their bodies in all different ways. Jump high. Run fast. Start and stop quickly, etc etc

2. They also need to have the ball at their feet A LOT. They need to learn how to dribble, turn, and stop (receive), and pass the ball with all parts of their feet.

3. They need the freedom and ability to make their own decisions!!! Which is why small-sided play is so beneficial.

Gives players tons of transitional moments that require them to make quick decisions.

No, we are not Croatia.

However, I think education is key and if another country is having success, I want to know why and how.

Too many coaches focus on tactics before kids have skill. Croatia has it right.
