Designing a 1800sf home with a 400sf +/- upstairs...

In many of the homes I have drawn, safe room types have included: 6" concrete walls reinforced with rebar, below slab shelters in the garage, a closet lined with 4 layers of 1-1/8" plywood and a FEMA rated steel box secured to the slab of a home..

As Mike Holmes says on Holmes on Homes, "a permit is your protection". We are lucky to have the City of Norman to back that up.

I'm working with the owners to develop a plan that would add a 1000sf to the back of this residence.

The owners wanted a sun room added to the back of their residence.
