Vidal-Gadea Lab

NIH restrictions on research partnerships with foreign institutions significantly impacted 1 in 4 U.S. scientists In a survey of NIH-funded scientists, 25% said their research had been impacted a great deal or a fair amount by a move away from foreign subawards.
Greetings, we are recruiting MS and PhD students for the Vidal-Gadea Lab at Illinois State University.
Our lab studies Duchenne muscular dystrophy across species, using C. elegans and human muscle cells (striated and smooth). The goal is mechanistic work that translates.
Students can expect a mix of approaches depending on project fit, including behavioral assays (automated and manual), confocal microscopy, calcium imaging, molecular biology, forward and reverse genetics, electrophysiology and astral projection (ok I may have made that last one up).
We take mentoring seriously and we track outcomes. If you want receipts, we literally have them. Our recent graduates have been very productive (recent PhD grads with 4 to 5 papers, recent MS grads with 2 to 3, including Q1s). Please also feel free to contact former lab members for candid, confidential feedback (google them, or ask me for contacts).
If you are interested, message me with a short note on what you want to work on, plus a CV and any relevant experience.
