Subject: Overcoming Fear by Trusting God’s Fatherly Care

Dear Epiphany Catholic Church & School,

I hope this finds you reflecting on our Father's Day message about casting out the fears that keep us from trusting in God's fatherly care.

Last Sunday we looked at how fear shows up everywhere in Scripture — from Jeremiah facing those who plot against him, to Paul's contrast between Adam's fall and Christ's saving work, to Jesus' teaching about not being anxious. I talked about how interior fear can stop us from laying down our lives, from loving fully, and from entering the sacraments with honesty and openness. I also shared moments from our priests' retreat and the Genesis couples' retreat to show how confession, holy hours, and the sacramental life help uproot those fears and lead us into new life.

This week, take time to name one fear that keeps you from being the best spouse, parent, or friend God calls you to be — write it down and bring it to confession or to a holy hour. Begin to re-orient one decision or one conversation away from worry about what others will think and toward what God is asking of you; let a healthy "fear of the Lord" reshape that choice. I'll be praying for you as you take this step toward greater trust and freedom.
