Speech openings with Hillary!
We have 3 spots available in our hybrid speech therapy program! Our next evaluation clinic day is on Tuesday, April 28th.
Our speech program may be a good fit for you if you want to learn the strategies firsthand to help improve you or your child’s speech, language, communication and/ or feeding skills. We partner with you so therapy is a dynamic process!
If you have done speech before and not had the results you were hoping for, feel free to give us a call so we can talk through your previous therapy experience and how we could be different.
For speech, we accepted Blue Cross Blue Shield and cash pay.
Call/ text us a 309-300-8737 or book directly online (link in bio).

We are so excited to be supporting this event! 💙
Leo Egbers, just a month shy of his 3rd birthday, tragically drowned in a neighborhood lake in May 2024. Leo, who had autism, was drawn to water and often wandered; both common challenges for many with autism. Despite his parents' best efforts, they faced significant barriers in securing an official diagnosis and accessing the services Leo needed.
What if help had come sooner? What if resources were easier to navigate?
In honor of Leo’s life and to create lasting change, we’re hosting 𝙇𝙀𝙊’𝙨 𝙄𝙈𝙋𝘼𝘾𝙏 - 𝘼𝙣 𝘼𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙤 on April 9th from 4-7pm at the Illinois Wesleyan University Shirk Center. This event, supported by community partners, aims to raise awareness, provide vital resources, and offer hope. We invite you to join us in this important cause.

Loved presenting and meeting everyone at Sunrise today!
We’re excited to welcome Meredith Norwood to Sunrise Rotary this Tuesday morning for what promises to be an engaging and informative discussion.
Meredith will present “The Critical Role of Occupational Therapy in Development and Rehabilitation,” offering insight into how occupational therapy supports individuals across the lifespan—especially children and adolescents navigating complex medical and psychological challenges.
Originally from Bloomington and a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Meredith earned her master’s degree in occupational therapy from Saint Louis University. She began her career in pediatric inpatient care at Marshfield Children’s Hospital in Wisconsin, followed by several years at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. There, she deepened her focus on psychological disorders, chronic pain, and Functional Neurological Disorder.
Meredith later completed both a clinical doctorate and a postdoctoral research fellowship at The George Washington University. Her contributions to national care guidelines and published research have helped shape best practices in the field. Now back in central Illinois, she brings her experience home as founder of The Therapy Collaborative, a multidisciplinary clinic in Uptown Normal focused on occupational and speech-language therapy.
She is also married to our own James Norwood, making Tuesday morning a true Sunrise family occasion!

Halloween fun? Yes! 🎃
Choking hazards? No, thank you! 👻🍬
While Halloween is full of excitement, some treats can pose a choking risk for kids under 5.
Here’s what to keep in mind to ensure everyone has a safe and sweet celebration, from our pediatric speech language pathologist:
🚫 Watch out for:
“Mini,” “fun-sized,” or small candies—they’re not safer and can easily get stuck in little mouths.
Sticky or hard-to-chew treats like peanut M&Ms, caramels, Milk Duds, taffy, gum, candy corn, Skittles, and gummies—kids often swallow these too soon!
👍 Safer options:
Look for soft treats that break apart easily or can be bitten into pieces. Think Kit Kats, Reese’s cups, or classic Hershey bars—delicious and easier to handle!
🛑 Allergen Alert:
Many candies contain common allergens beyond nuts or dairy, like egg in some chewy treats. Always double-check labels if allergies are a concern!
Let’s keep Halloween filled with treats, not tricks—or worries! 🎃🍫
