Shady Grove Farm Illinois

I'm feeling very rundown today, and a bit overwhelmed, and a bit beaten down by the heat. So I'm posting this positive image that may not seem like a big deal, but is for me. These wildflowers came up in the newly developed North Pasture where I frost-seeded this year for the first time (thank you Cammie 'Piper' Meerdink for helping me!). I planted a native grazing seed mix (shout out to Hoksey Seed in Iowa) that included a sheep friendly mix of grasses, forbs, and pollinators, but since its so expensive I couldn't buy much. This winter I'm going to try really hard to buy more of this seed mix and seed the other pastures as well. My goal is to bring some native plants into the grazing rotation. But it takes years to get things established, especially natives. This is the first yr for this pasture and the lambs quarters have taken over some areas, but I remain hopeful. 😊 🌼🌾🌱
