The "Angel Light" Award is given to caregivers whose exceptional care recognized signs of a serious depressive episode, and their timely, compassionate intervention protected their client's safety and well-being. The award is part of our Angel Light Project, designed to recognize caregivers who recognize and minimize the impact of depression on seniors.

On May 19th 2026, while serving as a Visiting Angel caregiver, Lavette's attentiveness recognized signs of a serious depressive episode in her client. Lavette took compassionate and decisive action to ensure the client's distress was identified, addressed, and resolved. Her intervention ensured the client's safety and well-being during a vulnerable moment.

Her actions upheld the highest traditions of Visiting Angels.

Join us at our next event -- a discussion about senior depression Harmony at Harbour View -- Jun 29th at 6pm.

We'll outline the causes of senior depression, signs, symptoms, and resources to deal with the disease. We'll have a depression screening tool available.
