Congratulations to the Norfolk Environmental Commission and partners, Friends of Norfolk's Environment!

The Norfolk Environmental Commission (NEC) has been awarded $750 in the Recycling and Waste Reduction category! Appointed by the City Council in Norfolk, the NEC is comprised of resident volunteers who are dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship throughout Norfolk. The group will use the Green Grant to install fishing line and tackle collection stations at high-use kayak and boat launch sites. These stations will provide anglers and paddlers with a convenient, responsible way of disposing monofilament line, hooks, lures, and other small gear. We are excited to support this project that will help Norfolk residents and visitors protect wildlife and waterways!

World Oceans Day is Monday and all waterways lead there from our homes and businesses. What hits our groundwater, flows to the storm drains onward to our local waterways and beyond to the Bay and the Ocean. We are in it together, so please be mindful and do the right thing.
