I’m going to make a confession.

I don’t know a great deal about insurance. Very little actually. I was a coach for 17 seasons. I’ve been an agent for 2 years.

Ironically, that’s how I’m building my business.

My team and I are not afraid to say the most important three words in establishing trust:

“I don’t know.”

I’ve taught them that this is the ONLY acceptable answer when you don’t know.

We’ll find out. We’ll get back to you.
We’re happy to learn.

So many professionals think they’ll lose credibility by admitting they don’t know the answer.

They guess. They speculate. Maybe even fudge a little.

We say I don’t know. But I’ll find out and call you back.
