Have you failed to receive a tax return from the state of Oklahoma for the tax years 2021 and/or 2022? If so, the first thing you should do is contact the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) to see if you can resolve it on your own. They can be reached at 405-521-3160. If your issue is still unresolved after speaking with the OTC, we may be able to help for no charge. If you are 50 years of age or older and your adjusted gross income is $50,000 or less, we want to try and help you. All you need to do is bring us your tax return(s) and supporting documents (e.g., W-2, 1099, etc.) for the year(s) you are missing and a current, valid government issued ID. We will have you fill out form BT-129, the OTC power of attorney, so that we can communicate with the OTC on your behalf. We are offering this to the first 25 people who come in and use this service now through August 18, 2023. Come see us at 122 S. Main St., Noble, OK 73068, on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9 am – 5 pm.

If you’ve ever spilled hot coffee on yourself, you probably consider coffee cup lids to be essential. You, sadly, are not a member of the Colorado State Legislature. Nonessential packaging is subject to a 2.9 percent tax, and while the coffee cup is considered essential, the lid is not. Then again, without one you’ll spill your drink the first time you come to a sudden stop in your car, and then paying the bill to detail your ride will cost way more than that 2.9 percent.

Did you know that in Texas belt buckles are taxed an additional 6.25 percent?
I guess because they get hit with the belt buckle tax, they have to cut them some slack somewhere. In Texas cowboy boots are exempt from sales tax. Hiking books are not.

Does anybody save cooking oil? In Ancient Egypt, cooking oil was taxed! This "fat tax" is one of the oldest known taxes. People were not allowed to re-use fat or cooking oil alternatives so that they had no choice but to buy it because it was sold only by the Pharaoh's monopoly.
