The fastest way to make a room feel custom? Pillows.

A well-designed room is never just about the sofa or the paint color, it’s the layering that creates warmth, depth, and personality.

When I style a space, pillows are one of my favorite finishing details because they completely transform how a room feels. The right mix of texture, scale, pattern, and trim can make a space feel elevated, intentional, and uniquely yours.

That’s exactly why I love working with custom pillows from L’Atelier. Instead of settling for mass-produced combinations, custom allows you to create something tailored to your home. Whether that’s a subtle tonal palette, a bold contrast, or that perfect fabric you can’t stop thinking about. Think of them as the jewelry of the room: small details that make the entire space come together.

Swipe through to see a few projects where pillows completely changed the final look + feel of the space.

Ready to refresh your space without a full renovation? Custom pillows are one of the easiest ways to instantly elevate a room. DM us “PILLOWS” or visit the link in bio to start designing your own curated combination with L’Atelier.

Neutral rooms are not boring. They just need to work a little harder. 🤍

Some of the most beautiful interiors ever designed are built entirely on a neutral palette, but what separates the ones that take your breath away from the ones that feel flat comes down to one thing: layering.

Here is what we do in every DFI project when neutrals are the foundation: texture before color. A bouclé cushion, a linen throw, a rug with natural variation in its weave. These add visual depth that your eye reads as richness, even without a single bold shade in the room. Mix your materials deliberately. Wood, stone, metal, fabric; when these four live together in a space, the room feels collected and considered rather than decorated. One sculptural moment. A piece that makes you pause. An unexpected form on a console, an oversized vessel, a lamp that doubles as art. Neutral rooms need at least one thing that draws the eye and holds it.

Respect scale. A room where everything is the same size feels timid. When you vary the heights, the weights and the proportions, suddenly the whole composition breathes. The result is a space that feels calm and effortless, but endlessly interesting the longer you sit in it. That is the goal. ✨
