.flash came out with a new Z2 on camera TTL flash.
This pocket size flash surprised me.
-I love that it’s solid black and folds down so it can stay on my camera and still be discreet.
-It’s extremely light but bright and powerful.
-Charges on USB C
-One single charge lasted for a 4 hour wedding session and still had power afterwards.
-Cost effective.
-Can use it to trigger my off camera strobes when they are set to optical slave function.
-Unlike most on camera TTL flashes there was no visible red eye in my subjects.
-Instantly gives that classic flash look that was popular in the days of Polaroid and disposable cameras.
It stays in my camera bag now. Thanks to the models that allowed me to test this light out on them.

From my ShutterFest+ class. It was all about editing but I wanted to do a quick setup so everyone can see from start to finish.
Thank you to the wonderful Violet Deardorff for modeling me. She technically wasn’t available for the conference this year but made an exception for my class. She truly brought my vision to life.
Scroll to see one of the best compliments that I’ve ever received in my life.

I'm not trying to continuously share the same images but I wanted to share a recent interaction that I had with someone who saw this image.
One of my customers knew I went to Madeira and yesterday asked how the trip went. I started to show him some of the images and he stopped me on this image. He asked me what it meant.
I normally don't like to tell people what a certain image means to me or what the concept was because it may mean something entirely different to them and be more impactful. Anyway, I made an exception and told him what my concept was while creating and editing this particular image.
He began to tear up and started to cry as I explained it to him. He said he had been struggling with and dealing with the same issue. He thanked me for making this image and expressing his struggle through art.
That is why I do this. That is why conceptual photography means so much to me. It's not always about the green god called money. For me, it's about reaching someone or creating an emotion or feeling. If I've done that then I'm happy with my journey in photography.
A lot of people in the industry say bo***ir and portraiture is empowering and I agree, they can be great confidence boosters. However, conceptual photography can be just as empowering and can empower/heal more than just the person in the frame.
Thank you to Devin Riley for making this image possible.
This was taken after Richard Wood workshop in Fanal Forest. He encouraged that I go do my own thing after his education portion. I definitely applied what he taught to this image. He's one of my favorite photographers and I have a ton of respect for him.
