πŸ’™ Happy Caregiver Appreciation Week! πŸ’™

This week, we celebrate the incredible caregivers who make a difference in the lives of our residents every single day. Their compassion, patience, dedication, and unwavering commitment provide comfort, dignity, and joy to those they serve.

While we enjoy recognizing our caregivers with food, treats, and gifts, the truth is that no token of appreciation could ever fully reflect the impact they have on our residents and their families. The kindness they show, the relationships they build, and the care they provide are truly priceless.

To our caregivers: Thank you for the countless ways you go above and beyond. Thank you for the smiles you bring, the hands you hold, the encouragement you offer, and the love you share. You are the heart of our community, and we are endlessly grateful for all that you do.

Warmer weather is upon us.β˜€οΈwhile we are so happy to have warmth and sunshine, we’re taking measures to ensure our residents stay hydrated. Nikky and her team have set hydration stations throughout the community, encouraging water intake in between activities and helping residents stay cool and active.

πŸ’§ Hydration Matters More Than Ever for Older Adults πŸ’§
As temperatures rise, staying hydrated becomes especially important for seniors. According to the Council on Aging, older adults are at greater risk for dehydration because the sensation of thirst often decreases with age, kidney function may change, and certain medications can increase fluid loss.
Dehydration can contribute to weakness, headaches, dizziness, confusion, constipation, falls, and even hospitalization. Warmer weather increases the risk even further.

A few simple ways to stay hydrated:
βœ… Keep water within easy reach throughout the day
βœ… Drink fluids regularly, even if you don't feel thirsty
βœ… Enjoy water-rich foods like watermelon, strawberries, cucumbers, and soups
βœ… Choose favorite beverages that encourage fluid intake (following any physician recommendations)
The CDC also reminds older adults to drink more water during hot weather and not wait until they feel thirsty.

Let's help our older loved ones stay healthy, safe, and hydrated this summer! β˜€οΈπŸ’™
