Helium Design

As my wife pointed out, this is map-geek stuff at its geekiest. I was in search of a project, and as I'm frequently re-reading the Narnia books, I thought, why not do a subway map? The general map shape and places is from the books, of course, but the "stations" are based on a very detailed map on Deviant Art, from user JamisonHartley. A few years back I made a quick sketch for my friend showing the relationships between Pixies and Throwing Muses and their associated bands. For her recent bday I made this subway map version for her, because, of course I did. Who doesn't want a subway map for their birthday?

Greater Newburyport subway system.

I've been working w the Greater Newburyport YWCA on this event for 3 years running. This is the 2019 event poster, w design and layout by me, with a cool photo from Biff Bouse, of "old and new" Newburyport. The new pic is his, the old is from 1850, in a collection from the Museum of Old Newbury, looking from State St. down Middle St.
