San Miguel Academy 5th graders recently completed their Stony Kill Farm Field Guides, the culmination of a yearlong exploration of the natural world. Throughout the school year, students recorded the plants and wildlife they encountered through observations, descriptions, notes, and drawings.

To complete the project, students bound their guides using handmade covers crafted from two different types of paper pulp and tied them together with string they learned to make from plants found on the farm itself.

Through our partnership with Stony Kill Foundation, San Miguel Academy students visit Stony Kill Farm Environmental Education Center every other week throughout the year for a wide range of experiences in farming, environmental studies, and hands-on learning.
