More on migration: These charts show the top 10 counties of origin for people who moved into the Hudson Valley, and the top 10 destinations for those who left our region to move elsewhere. Two trends have stood out for the last three reporting cycles. We are losing many residents to neighboring counties in neighboring states, usually on a 2-to-1 ratio. Many of our residents are also moving South to states that have zero tax or extremely low tax on retirement income. JOIN US! Many housing programs use Area Median Income to set standards for affordability. However, widespread reliance on AMI has failed to facilitate the production of housing that is appropriately and affordably priced for those tenants. Pattern's latest paper explains the math and language behind this challenge in our latest report. We will host a special webinar tomorrow (March 18) to share it with the region.
