If you've had the unfortunate news your 4.0 Ford need timing and were quoted $2500, we sympathize truly (by not charging so much!!). You see, the reason why the cost is so much elsewhere is because of the way the engine is designed. You simply cannot access certain pieces of the timing unless the engine is removed. Well, here's one we finished up recently, and there is one happy owner we were able to do this in his driveway. Listen to that engine purr ❤️

Well.. Been running the van for about what 3-4 months, and it's always had under heavy load a pretty nasty misfire (think Rex Hill, 45, flashing cel). Since the engine was installed last year, it was assumed all the components were tip top. Well, as you can see, not so. GM put plastic distributors in these Vortec 350's which causes them to prematurely wear out. We ordered a new all aluminum upgrade, and now the van is running much better at idle. The test drive is coming soon. Look at the old black plastic distributor how much play is in it vs the new distributor which has virtually zero play. Also, take a listen to the old distributor squeeking away. It's always the little things!!
