What happens when a familiar subject becomes an experiment in light and movement? 🐈⬛
Natalia Goncharova’s "Cats” transforms a scene of three felines into a study of energy, color, and perception. Created in the Rayonist style, the work reflects the movement developed by Goncharova and her artistic partner Mikhail Larionov, which moved beyond traditional representation to explore the effects of light.
Painted shortly after Goncharova’s participation in the 1912 Der Blaue Reiter exhibition, "Cats" captures the artist’s search for a new visual language rooted in modernity and experimentation.

The Guggenheim opens its doors early for families on one Saturday each month 🎨
At Stroller Hour on June 13 explore "Carol Bove" in a welcoming environment with spaces for rest, reflection, and play. Then, take part in a guided artmaking activity designed for young children and their caregivers to create, connect, and explore together.
Advance registration required. Free for Members at the Dual/Family level and above. Museum admission included.
