🏳️‍🌈 What a weekend in the Fire Island Pines.

This past Saturday, we gathered for Raise the Flag — the Gilbert Baker Foundation’s very first fundraiser — to celebrate something worth celebrating: our victory at the Stonewall National Monument, where the Rainbow Flag flies once again.

The weather didn’t cooperate, but it didn’t matter. Fire Island has always been a place where the Rainbow Flag flies proudly, where q***r community has found home and refuge. Gilbert knew how special this place was — he spent time here, needle and thread in hand, doing the work that gave our movement its most enduring symbol.

To everyone who came out, gave, and stood with us in the rain: thank you. This is just the beginning. 🧵
