I’m so excited to share these photos with you travelers. One of my passions is finding lesser-known places, so there are fewer expectations based on what I’ve heard or read. Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia is a national -and natural -treasure!!! Gorgeous, crystal clear, turquoise terraced lakes that cascade into a series of waterfalls , with wooden walkways over ponds and through marshes immersing visitors right into the incredible environment. This World Heritage Site is an unforgettable day trip on a Croatian itinerary, about a 2.5 hour drive from Split. The locals in other areas were very pleased to know we visited Plitvice -one even said , “OK you can go home now. You’ve seen the best!” It’s a truly special place. ❤️
On this journey, we were fortunate enough to be able to visit what is considered the wine capital of the world: Bordeaux, France. There are more than 6000 growers here!! The old charming town of Bordeaux and the wine country nearby may be my new favorite gems of places…. The old city was developed back in 1500s and 1800s when great wealth came to the area. But we had to start the visit at an appropriate , more modern and new site to learn about the history of Bordeaux: La Cite du Vin -or the wine museum right outside the old town. A ticket gets you a wine tasting and very well done interactive exhibits about wine around the world among other things. It’s a good place to start -wine here started gaining fame back in the first century AD so there’s a lot to learn. A high speed train from Paris was created in 1917 so no excuses if you go to Paris. J’adore Bordeaux!!! So much more to come on this special place. ❤️🍷
