Laundry Workers Center
06/10/2026
Today, alongside the , , and , and Council Members Harvey Epstein, Christopher Marte, Tiffany Cabán, Alexa Avilés, and Justin Brannan, we joined forces to call for a critical $5 million investment in the Worker Rights Organizing and Education Initiative.
This investment is essential to ensuring that recently passed worker protection laws become a reality for the more than 100,000 delivery workers, street vendors, laundry workers, and other low-wage workers they are intended to protect. Through education, organizing, and targeted outreach, workers can learn their rights, exercise them, and access the protections they fought so hard to win.
For decades, worker centers have been on the frontlines of educating, organizing, and empowering workers. We are calling on the NYC Council to invest $5 million in the trusted organizations that make these rights real. It’s time to invest in worker rights organizing and education.
