⚡ This is not your average climb.
Scaling a utility pole takes more than upper-body strength. It takes balance, focus, confidence, and the ability to stay calm while working high above the ground.
Our trainer, Victorious Foulks, makes it look easy, but every move is backed by years of experience, training, and an unwavering commitment to safety.
At our Pole Climbing School in , Hudson Valley Community College students get a firsthand look at the skill, precision, and mental toughness required to do this work safely.
Because when you're responsible for helping keep the lights on, every step counts. ⚡💪
Ask a lineworker what makes the job worthwhile, and you'll hear more than talk about poles, wires and equipment. When asked what advice he'd give someone considering the profession, our own Greg M. spoke about the reward of helping people and making a difference in their lives.
It's a perspective that says a lot about the people behind the work. Today, we're celebrating and thanking all of our lineworkers for the skill, dedication and service they bring to our communities every day.
Shout out to Ryan M. and Greg M. for sharing their experiences with the Edison Electric Institute and offering a glimpse into what it means to be a lineworker.

☀️ As temperatures rise across our region, our teams remain focused on delivering the safe, reliable service our customers count on every day.
Remember to take precautions during periods of extreme heat and humidity:
• Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned space.
• Be aware of the signs of heat-related illness. Learn more from the CDC: https://ngrid.com/44FR8Gv
• Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
Planning an outdoor project? Before you dig, call 811 at least 48 hours in advance to have underground utilities marked. It's the safest way to protect yourself, your neighbors, and critical infrastructure and it's the law.
Stay safe and take care in the heat.
This is the critical work that keeps neighborhoods powered. ⬇️
What you’re seeing is the installation of a 30” station header at Long Beach, one of our stations feeding customers on Long Island and helping ensure homes stay heated and energy keeps flowing reliably.
This 32,000 lb piece was set with just 2 inches of clearance and aligned within 1/8-inch precision, all under challenging conditions and a tightly coordinated work window. It may look like a simple pipe, but it takes detailed planning, custom fabrication, and round-the-clock ex*****on to get it right.
Kudos to the team for delivering this work a full week early, without impacting customers. It’s the type of work most people will never see, but everyone depends on. ⚡
Temps are heating up this week, with highs climbing into the 90s (and higher in some areas) 🥵
As the heat builds, here are a few easy ways to stay comfortable while managing your usage:
• Close blinds to block heat
• Raise your thermostat a few degrees
• Use fans with your AC
• Skip ovens during peak heat
• Turn off lights when not in use
And if you’re heading outside for summer projects, remember to call 811 before you dig. It’s free, it’s the law, and it helps protect you, your neighbors, and essential services.
Stay cool, stay safe. 💙
