Last year, OSI partnered with engineering cadets from the West Point - The U.S. Military Academy, NY State Parks & Historic Sites, and the Palisades Interstate Park Commission to design and build a replacement trail bridge along a section of the Appalachian Trail passing through New York’s Harriman State Park.
One thru-hiker just gave the trail bridge a glowing review! It's incredibly rewarding for us to know that people are enjoying a project that has made one of the country's most iconic footpaths safer and more welcoming for its thousands of annual visitors.
Huge congratulations to David Kaulfers on his incredible journey north. We’ll be cheering you on all the way to Katahdin!

A new chapter is unfolding for a former Boy Scout camp in New York’s Adirondack Park: OSI recently acquired the 1,525-acre Sabattis Scout Reservation property. The vast property includes quiet ponds, carbon-rich forests, scenic trails, important wildlife habitat, and miles of shoreline along Lows Lake.
Once transferred to New York State, the property could serve as an eastern gateway to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation’s Five Ponds Wilderness and help expand recreational opportunities in one of the Adirondacks' most remote and spectacular regions.
