Max Driscoll, AIA, LEED-AP BD+C
Director Sustainable Development, SPN [business ecology]

Max is a registered architect and manages sustainability projects at SPN Ecology. Over the course of his 15 years of practicing sustainability, Max has lead many sustainability leadership projects including the implementation of sustainability for all buildings and infrastructure at the World Trade Center, the first LEED Gold academic building in New York State, the first LEED Gold Core and Shell building in the Bronx, the highest rated LEED for Commercial Interiors project ever certified by USGBC (at the time of certification in 2011), and a winning competition entry for a zero impact sustainable development strategy for the country of Finland. A witness to the transformational influence of LEED in the real estate market, Max is also pushing to implement programs that strive to go beyond LEED like the Living Building Challenge, the 2030 Challenge, and Natural Capital | Ecosystem Services.

Adrian Tuluca, Senior Principal, Vidaris

Adrian Tuluca is a registered architect, LEED AP and Building Modeling Professional. He contributed to the ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals and participated in various studies that compared modeling vs actual energy use. He has been leading a 40 person group that specializes in energy efficiency and green for over 20 years. His background includes the first net-zero building gn the US (Oberlin College), and many low-energy buildings, of all types, from 5,000 to 5 million sq.ft.

John Lee, Deputy Director, Green Buildings and Energy Efficiency, NYC Mayor’s Office of Sustainability

John Lee is the Deputy Director for Green Buildings and Energy Efficiency at the New York City Mayor’s Office of Sustainability. In this capacity, he is leading the city’s policy and legislative efforts driving the built environment to unprecedented energy efficiency standards. John’s previous public sector service was with the NYC Department of Buildings as Senior Architect in the codes development division and with the Department of City Planning where he served as an Urban Designer. During his early career, John was a design architect in private sector architecture firms working on institutional buildings, transit facilities, and master plans for universities. He is a licensed architect and a graduate of Rice University and the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

Deborah Moelis, AIA, Senior Associate, Certified Passive House Designer, Handel Architects

Deborah Moelis AIA is a Senior Associate and a founding member of New York-based Handel Architects. She is currently serving as Project Manager for Cornell University’s residential building on Roosevelt Island in New York City. Currently under construction, the tower is being built to Passive House standards, and when completed will be the largest and tallest Passive House building in the world. Recently completed projects include Aire, a 42-story 315-unit residential tower in Manhattan, as well as Millennium Place, a 256-unit residential building in downtown Boston, both of which she managed from design through construction. Ms. Moelis has played an instrumental role in the operation and growth of the firm, both in the New York and San Francisco offices.

Ms. Moelis received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the University of Michigan and earned her Master of Architecture from Columbia University. She is a Certified Passive House Designer and has lectured extensively on the principles of Passive House design, including panel discussions at NY AIA and Greenbuild 2016.

Robert DaRos, Vice President Sciame Construction

Since joining Sciame in 1999, Robert has successfully completed numerous high profile projects including Central Synagogue and Harvard Club of New York. He was responsible for the day to day management of the Cooper Union’s 170,000 SF New Academic Building. Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fordham University and has studied architecture at Pratt Institute.
