To immerse audiences in the visceral reality of the Verde Passage oil spill, Goldie Poblador worked with perfumer M Dougherty to create three evocative scents that accompany her glass sculptures from “The Rise of Medusa” series—Oil Spill, Dead Coral, and Verde. Echoing the tragedy and resilience of the ecosystem of the Verde Islands, these olfactory compositions aim to deepen the viewer’s understanding of the unseen forces at play beneath the waves.
Poblador’s sculptures, “Porites Oil Slick Coral” and “Porites Bleached Coral,” are on view at 601Artspace as part of 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆. Visit the exhibition at 88 Eldridge through November 9. Gallery hours: Thursday to Sunday, 1 to 6pm.

Young visitors are actively welcomed at 601Artspace, so please bring your kids of all ages. Here, six-year-old Jahandar (full disclosure, child of Director Sara Shaoul ) shares his impressions of our current exhibition, “Long ago in a soft light.” Artists Christophe Fellay and Marie-Noële Guex wholeheartedly agreed with his review. Swipe to see the “translation” of Han’s notes on the show.
Visit Christophe and Marie’s show at 88 Eldridge St from Thursdays to Sundays! We’re open from 1-6pm. The exhibition is on view through April 2nd and was created with the support of Swiss Art Council ProHelvetia.
