We extend our sincere appreciation to H.E. Dr. Mohamed Alkuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security Council for the United Arab Emirates Government, for his time, thoughtful discussion, and continued dedication to advancing frontier technologies toward a secure, integrated, and human-centered future. It was a privilege to engage with him during the AI for Good Global Summit and welcome him to the Cyber Institute’s WSIS Process Forum booth.

These conversations are especially meaningful to our research. The Cyber Institute’s initial use case for GUARDIAN, completed in partnership with New York University and NYU Tandon School of Engineering focuses on the Gulf’s rapid adoption of AI and other frontier technologies and the governance, cybersecurity, sovereignty, public trust, and ethical considerations required to ensure that innovation strengthens society rather than outpaces its safeguards.

The Gulf offers an important environment for studying how governments can move quickly while building governance into technological transformation from the beginning. Through GUARDIAN, we are exploring how structured human–AI partnership can help leaders evaluate policy choices, identify competing priorities, and translate responsible technology principles into practical, context-aware governance.

Thank you, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Alkuwaiti, for the meaningful exchange and for your leadership in shaping a more secure and integrated technological future.

From policy to practice.

On Monday, July 6, the Cyber Institute hosted "Advancing AI Governance from Policy to Practice" at ITU WSIS Process Forum 2026.

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in public policy, critical infrastructure, and everyday decision-making, the conversation must move beyond principles and into implementation.

The workshop, led by Andrew Vance, PhD and Taylor Rodriguez Vance, PhD, brought together experts from government, academia, international organizations, and industry with an interactive activity and discussion highlighting the importance of understanding the impact that AI has on national, subnational, and organizational governance and policy.

A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their expertise, and contributed to an engaging discussion and to ITU and United Nations hosting the WSIS forum. We're excited to continue advancing practical, human-centered AI governance through research, partnerships, and global engagement.

The future of AI governance isn't written by policy alone, it's built through collaboration and implementation.
