During World War II, Iran provided refuge to thousands of Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi-occupied Poland, including approximately 1,000 children known as the Tehran Children who arrived in 1942. Despite challenging conditions, Iran and the local Jewish community supported these refugees, with many children temporarily housed in camps and orphanages in Tehran and Isfahan.

Abdol Hossein Sardari, an Iranian diplomat, saved hundreds to thousands of Jews by providing them with Iranian passports and protection.
