Rest In Grace
I was sitting here and doing my usual bibie study and the Holy Spirit asked me if I knew what being led by him was, and yes to some extent I did. I've always had some questions about the subject though. If you do not know what being led by the Holy Spirit is and where he's leading you, then how will you know who's leading you or where they are leading you to? Well actually it is so simple that many people just plain miss it. The Holy Spirit was given for a purpose, the heavenly father does nothing that does not have a purpose, he is always purposeful. There are a few functions that the Holy Spirit fullfills in a beleivers life, I will only be focussing on one, where he leads us to and why. It is his function in our lives to lead and guide us into all truth. Jesus stated himself that he was the truth, not a truth, but the truth. The Apostle John wrote that he was full of grace and truth. Full means, filled, brimming, packed, overflowing, etc. So Jesus is not only the truth, but overflowing with the truth. One of the main functions of the Holy Spirit is to lead us to Jesus or the truth, they are one and the same. The Holy Spirit is the revelator of who and what jesus is, what he did by being crucified, dying, going to hell, in mankinds place and what Jesus accomplished by his resurectoin and ascension to the right hand of the heavenly father. But how does one know if they are being led to the right place or not. There is only one way to accomplish this and this is to study the Word of God by being part of a firm bible teaching church with proven Pastors, Teachers, Bishops and Deacons. Some churches call these different offices by different names but they all mean the same thing. The Holy Spirit can only reveal Jesus through the Word of God. Eventually you will be so saturated in the Word of God that You will have know problem in knowing if it is God or not God, who is revealing themselves to you. This is called discipleship. The Holy Spirit is the friend that sticks closer then a brother, and comes to dwell on the inside of a believer as they turn their will life over to the care of Jesus. If you are a believer the Holy Spirit is living in your spirit and desires an intimate relationship with you. Do not be religeous with him, talk to him like he is your best friend because he is, and he will never leave or fosake you.
Why is the truth so important? Because the body has an enemy that will go to any length to discredit the validity of the word of God. I would say most Christians will hear a sermon and because the person delivering it is popular in Christian circles, they just swallow it whole, thinking nothing of it. The words in the bible are inspired by God, but not necessarily the punctuation marks. We need to understand that the bible was not written in the english langauge and because of this, it had different rules for grammer then when writing in english, and vise versa. The scriptures never contradict themselves. If their is a contradiction it is not with the inspired Word of God but in the translation. Two apparent contradictions is in the account of the resurectiuon of Jesus, found in Mark and Matthew's Gospel. In order to understand this dicrepency one must first must understand how the Israelites structured their nights and their day's. From six pm to to six am where their nights and from six am to six pm where their day's. In the modern world we go from twelve pm to twelve am for our nights and twelve am to twelve pm for our day's. You can see that these are two different systems. Matthew Chapter 28 verses one through seven very plainly states that Jesus rose some where between six pm and six am on saturday. (This also poses another problem and this is, on what day was Jesus actually crucified. You need to understand that there are regular sabaths and there are high sabaths, which there was both accurring on this particullar week, and we will deal with this on a different post). When you read Matthew twenty eight it say's very cleary that Marry came to the tomb on the first day of the week at dawn, and every bodie should agree that the first day of the week is not saturday or their regular sabath day. In verses five and six the angel told her that Jesus was already risen. It could not have been the first day of the week, because she arrived around six am, at the end of their night and the beginning of their days, and Jesus rose before Marry ever came to his tomb, which was sunday morning. Jesus rose at some point durring the night or, saturday night. This would also mean that Jesus was crucified on wednessday. This is what happened because on that week there was a cellebration of the passover, unleavened bread and their weekly sabbath. Their was a Sabbath on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, on this particullar weeek. We will go into this on a different post. This discussion will continue.
Thr Holy Spirit woke me up and started talking to me about the rich young ruler which you find in Mark chapter ten verses seventeen to twentyseven. Most people in the church for some reason look at Jesus as one that ministered under the new testament. This is one hundred percent wrong, he ministered under the old covenant. I don't have time now but if one would do an indepth study on what the new testament says about the purpose of the law, you would be very surprised. The law served a few purposes but the two main things that it did was reveal ones sin and it was a minister of death. The word of God say's that no man shall be justified by the works of the law. Back to the rich young ruler. Jesus revealed to him six out of the ten commandments. The rich young ruler thought that he done something grand, but when he was presentd with the first two commandments he became sad, his substance became his god and an idol. These two commandments revealed the true condition of his heart and they slew him. He wasn't all that he thought he was, but Jesus gave him the way of escape and it was none other than him self. The law (and by the way there are six hundred abd thirteen not just ten) could never of make anyone righteous in the sight of God, this could only come in the form of a gift. Only through the death, burial and resurection of Jesus could this occur. The law can only reveal sin but it is only God who can deal with sin. When one becomes born again they become a brand new being that never existed before and there old sin nature is destroyed and and they receive the very nature of almighty God himself. This is the gospel of good news, Jesus accomplished everything for us, we just need to eccept this grace. amen
What actually is the gospel that we beleiver's in Jesus proclaim? That Jesus died a sinless life on a roman cross, was buried and on the third day he was raised from the dead according to what scripture had prophisied thousands of years before and was seen alive by the twelve disciples and also by more then five hundred beleivers at the time. The good news is that Jesus offers every human being eternal life with no strings atteched. If you beleive with your heart that God faised him from the dead and confess with your mouth that he is Lord you will be saved. This is the promise from Jesus to every human being that ever existed, past, present and future. And he does this witout you having to earn it. A person who does this is made the rightousness of Jesus himself. In other words you get the status of having all your wrongs ( sins ) fogiven and forgotten forever by God. No other religeon promises this, only Christianity does. Then to top this all off, the cherry on the sunday if you will, we are all promised that when we die that we will be resurrected with glorified and eternal bodies, a body exactly like that of Jesus himself, and all you have to do is beleive in your heart that God raised him from the dead and confess that he is Lord, period. Grace and peace be multiplied unto everyone By the Father and the Lord Jesus the Christ.
