Agentcy continues to enhance its offering to the woman of Bronx Community College. We were thrilled to accept the jewelry displayed on this table, generously donated in memory of Carol Degnan, a remarkable woman whose spirit and attention to detail were truly inspiring and unforgettable.

Carol would have been a passionate Agentcy volunteer, and we know she would have found great joy in helping our clients style themselves for interviews.”

Giving Tuesday 2024, coincides with an extraordinary milestone for Agentcy as it celebrated the grand opening of the Career Gear™ Boutique, a groundbreaking initiative designed to eliminate barriers for BCC students by providing them with free professional attire for interviews and recruitment events. This is the first of its kind in the United States. A campus based, career focused, new clothing service provided free of charge. In time the model will be replicated across New York City and other states. It is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication between Agentcy and the New York based Bronx Community College (BCC).

The Career Gear Boutique at BCC is the last stop for students on their journey from BCC to the professional workplace. It provides new, interview ready, professional clothing. The aim is to remove as many barriers as possible for a student to obtain their first internship or full time job in the professional workforce. BCC found that students were turning down interviews and career based events simply because they did not have the right clothing. The event brought together key partners, including The Agentcy Collective’s co-founders Jourdan Lemieque-Degnan and Jesseca Kendall who shared the impact of this collaboration in empowering BCC students. Interim President Milton Santiago, Dean Jessica Seliger, and CUNY Chancellor Felix V. Matos Rodriguez who delivered inspiring remarks about the importance of supporting students in their journey from the Bronx to the Boardroom. The highlight of the event was a heartfelt speech by BCC student Janel Melvin, who shared how access to professional clothing builds self-confidence and allows students to focus on their goals. The ribbon-cutting marked the official opening of this resource, which is already making a difference for students across programs.

The Career Gear™ Boutique is equipping students to succeed in interviews and beyond. Thank you to everyone who made this incredible initiative possible!
