This is HORRIBLE! Firefighters lives are put in jeopardy, to protect desperate people just trying to live and survive in life. This is OUTRAGEOUS, NO FORGIVENESS to these slumlords, who do not care for anyone, and prey on the poor and desperate people, at the same time putting FIRST RESPONDERS AT RISK ! The first thing city hall and the FD need to do, is have the State and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) do an in-depth audit on these slumlords, I am sure they will be able to collar them for tax evasion, which could result in forfeiture of assets, and incarceration. This is a definite way to stop them. At the same time, if these tenants are illegal aliens, we have another issue here, both the slumlords, and the illegals aliens are both at fault for putting the first responders, and everyone around them in danger. HOW DO WE FIX IT? UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS WHY THE SO CALLED SANCTUARY CITES NEEDS TO LET ICE IN AREAS LIKE THE CITY OF NEWBURGH. This whole incident is a matter of public safety and concern. I spent many years as a Volunteer Firefighter, and I saw numerous fires caused by carelessness. Sadly it takes a fire in the home, resulting in the loss of life, possessions, and a lifetime of memories, in order for someone to pay attention to fire safety, and disaster preparedness.
