There’s something grounding about stepping into tradition and moving together. Parathosi 2026 was a reminder of continuity, community, and shared joy.

We are excited to share this 20-minute video from a program that celebrated the rich folk dance traditions of the Greek islands. It was such a wonderful experience to see how each dance tells its own story of community, history, and culture.

In this program you’ll see:
💃 Maleviziotikos (Crete) – fiery and energetic, capturing the strength and pride of Cretan tradition.
💃 Sousta (Symi) – a joyful couples’ dance symbolizing love and vitality.
💃 Ballos (Lemnos) – elegant and playful, often danced in pairs, full of improvisation.
💃 Divaratikos (Cephalonia) – rhythmic and dynamic, reflecting the Ionian spirit.
💃 Antipatiti (Karpathos) – a communal circle dance with powerful steps that honor resilience and heritage.
💃 Kavantoritikos (Evoia) – lively and flowing, symbolizing the ebb and flow of the island’s tides.
💃 Pyrgousikos (Chios) – danced in trios, with intricate steps that highlight balance, coordination, and unity.
💃 Ai Giorgis (Kythira) – a traditional song and dance honoring Saint George, blending devotion with the island’s joyful spirit.

Each dance is a glimpse into the heart of its island, passed down for generations and still alive today. I hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoyed bringing these traditions to life. 💙
