Did you know Paine served as aide to camp for General Nathanael Greene and saw several battles. What a wonderful Paine Day today! It was great seeing so many in our community interested in celebrating the life of such a great man. We are so excited to celebrate the 115th anniversary of the opening of the Thomas Paine Cottage Museum by the Huguenot & New Rochelle Historical Association this year! Public tours coming back this July!
The sounds of Tutti Bravi Productions Inc. of “Common Sense” filled the air. Brian Carter’s Jazz Quartet entertained and readings by Scott Cleary from his book, “The Field of Imagination: Thomas Paine and Eighteenth-Century Poetry”. Festivities hosted by the Thomas Paine Historical Association celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Paine Memorial Building.

We were pleased to celebrate Thomas Paine Day today with a good turnout from the community and our elected officials, Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert, County Legislators Clements and Holstein, Senator Shelley Mayer, and Congressman George Latimer. Inspiring performances by Tutti Bravi and the Brian Carter Sextet, and remarks by Lisa Burton, Gary Berton and Scott Cleary of the Thomas Paine Historical Association.

Celebrate New Rochelle’s second official Thomas Paine Day on Sunday, June 8th! All are invited to the Thomas Paine Memorial Building, 983 North Avenue, the large stone building with columns. The Building will be open from 3 to 6 pm.
3:30 pm - Presentations about the philosophy and poetry of Thomas Paine; Musical selections from Common Sense: The Story of Thomas Paine, by Tutti Bravi Productions. Music by the Brian Carter Jazz Quartet and refreshments to follow the program at 4:30 pm.

The Thomas Paine Memorial Building is open Saturday afternoons with exhibits about the life and legacy of founding father Thomas Paine. 983 North Avenue, 1-4 pm. Learn about the roots of American democracy!
