"Despite being open for 9 years, Hollygrove Market survives week to week. We are funded almost entirely by market sales. Our profit margins are thin and we pay a fair wage to our employees and fair market value to our farmers. The disruption caused by Hurricane Nate affected us greatly. The weekends bring in 75% of our income. Closing part of the weekend, loss of perishable products, and other expenses incurred will bring total weekend losses to over $5,000.
A building renovation project [will] allow the Market to generate another stream of revenue by hosting community meetings, outdoor special events, educational workshops, and possibly renting office space to local nonprofits and businesses."
