HAPPY BROOD'S DAY!
from Cynthia Branigan
Here's to the girls who make it all possible: the Greyhound broods.
Our personal adoptees are L. to R. Norma Rae (mother of 16! and daughter of our dearly departed Wanda); Ukulele (mother of 3 and daughter of Corkman and granddaughter of Ondacuff--both of whom we placed); and Miriam (daughter of Ukulele and mother of 4).
May all the broods out there have a wonderful day!

DON’T FORGET OBI!
The right home has not yet materialized for Obi so we thought an update was in order.
First, the things that have not changed: Obi (racing name Getso's Osteg) is a smallish 66-pound boy who is 2 1/2 years old. He raced only 5 times but showed little aptitude for it, so the decision was made to retire him.
Here’s a professional photo of him taken on the track at Wheeling. He looks like a champion, doesn’t he?
Obi’s foster mom said he is now walking much better on lead. While he still gets excited when he sees another dog, he’s improving. His no-pull harness helps, as does the care and patience of his foster mom. Little by little, Obi is getting the idea. His foster mom says he recognizes a couple of neighbors (including men) when they’re on a walk and wags his tail when he sees them. He was also better when schools were on spring break last week and there were no loud school buses and less traffic overall.
As we noted before, Obi's adoption wish list includes: another dog in the home (preferably a Greyhound) to keep him company; a fenced yard so he can frisk around whenever he wants; no cats or small dogs (the temptation to chase is too great); and someone to continue to take the time to teach him how to walk nicely on lead.
Obi gives sweet little kisses, rides beautifully in the car, and is ready to blossom in the right home!
His foster mom seconds that and says: First and foremost, Obi is a VERY sweet, happy boy.

WHERE HOUNDS MAY SAFELY GRAZE
from Cynthia Branigan
After the long, harsh winter we experienced, I guess I'm more enthusiastic than usual about signs of spring.
Here, Henge (left) and Pendleton sniff amidst the violets to their heart's content. Makes my heart content, too!
And by the way, the 'Easter bunnies' in Sunday's post were in no danger of marauding Greyhounds. They live in a separate part of the property and are both fenced off, and screened off, from the dogs!

I WAITED AND WAITED
from Cynthia Branigan
I wondered if the Easter Bunny had passed us by this year. There had not been a single rabbit sighting.
But after the rain stopped, and the sky cleared, not one but two bunnies graced our lawn.
Hope you all enjoyed your holiday!
