My parents always told me to obtain things of quality and treat everything in life with care, and this whole experience has simply reminded me of that. It applies to things we own, relationships we have, values, beliefs and so on.

I bought this laptop in February 2017 and it was the biggest purchase I’d made on my own at that point. So you can imagine how heavily my vow to never let it fall or fail by user-error weighed on the conscience.

You can also imagine how I felt, previously scratch-free and nearly a decade later, when I opened it up to begin work a few days ago and received this surprise—distraught *is* the word! I did shed a tear and wondered if the tech goddesses had forgotten about me, but then swiftly ran to online marketplaces to find a screen replacement.

Had I ever repaired a computer before? Nope! And of course I could’ve purchased the shiny new version that can do all of the cool new things…but it just wouldn’t have been the same. This laptop has so many memories and emotions attached to it, and it was an economical plus to try and save it myself!

When I received the new screen and took the time to install it, I gained a reinforced confidence in myself; that I can do anything I set my mind to. Though it may be daunting at first and challenges may await, it can be done through persistence. Growth will always follow.
