True excellence is measured not just by the games you win, but by the legacy you leave behind.

The Sports Equity Lab is proud to host "Better Than They Found It," an event celebrating the profound impact of Black coaches who shaped the modern NFL.

Featuring clips from Tarana Harris Mayes' new documentary—narrated by Sterling K. Brown—and a dynamic panel of legendary leaders, we will explore how empathic coaching and a culture of Care drive sustainable success.

🗣From conversation to co-creation.🌟

At the Sports Equity Lab Symposium, our Design Lab: Pathways for Sustainable Athlete Thriving brought together athletes, researchers, and students to rethink how we support athletes across their entire journey.

From early youth to post-career transition, participants explored key challenges and solutions around:

• Financial literacy & economic empowerment
• Mental health and “mental capital”
• Identity beyond sport
• Mentorship and trusted guidance
• Athlete storytelling and generational impact

One thing was clear:
⚠️Athletes need systems that support them as people — not just performers.
