I had the privilege of being invited as a speaker for a Moot Court Practical Training session.
It was truly a wonderful experience to interact with such enthusiastic and aspiring law students. Sharing my practical insights on moot court, court etiquette, drafting, and advocacy reminded me of my own journey in the legal field.
I believe moot courts are not just competitions, but a platform to build confidence, enhance research skills, and develop strong advocacy techniques.
Grateful for this opportunity and looking forward to many more such interactions in the future.
Thank you to the organizers and all the students for their active participation and warm response.

⚖️ Section 125 CrPC – Right to Maintenance for Women
Maintenance is not a favor — it’s a legal right under Indian law. 💬
Under Section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), a woman who is unable to maintain herself financially has the right to claim maintenance from her husband. This law ensures that no woman is left without basic support or dignity, irrespective of religion or personal laws.
⸻
👩⚖️ Who Can Claim Maintenance:
✅ Legally wedded wife (even if living separately for valid reasons)
✅ Divorced wife (if not remarried and unable to maintain herself)
✅ Minor children (legitimate or illegitimate)
✅ Parents (father or mother who are unable to maintain themselves)
⸻
🏛️ Where to File:
A woman can file an application under Section 125 CrPC in the Magistrate Court (First Class) of:
• The place where she resides,
• Or where the husband resides,
• Or where the husband last resided with her.
⸻
⏳ Time Duration:
• Usually, the court issues notice within a few weeks of filing.
• Interim maintenance can be granted early (within 2–3 months).
• Final maintenance order depends on the facts of the case and income details, typically within 6–12 months.
⸻
💰 Purpose of Maintenance:
To ensure the woman and her children can live with basic dignity, covering:
• Food
• Clothing
• Shelter
• Medical & education expenses
⸻
🧾 Remember:
Maintenance is not charity — it’s the recognition of a woman’s right to live with dignity and security.

FIR vs Complaint
Law Made Easy
🧾 FIR (First Information Report)
➡️ FIR tab likhi jaati hai jab cognizable offence hota hai —
jaise murder, theft, r**e, assault, robbery, etc.
➡️ In cases me police turant action le sakti hai aur investigation start karti hai.
➡️ FIR police station me likhi jaati hai (under Section 154 CrPC).
🔹 Example:
Agar kisi ka mobile chori ho gaya hai — to ye cognizable offence hai.
Police directly FIR likh kar case investigate karegi.
⸻
📜 Complaint
➡️ Complaint ek written application hoti hai jo Magistrate ko di jaati hai,
jab offence non-cognizable ho — jaise defamation, cheating, trespass, etc.
➡️ Police bina court ke order ke action nahi le sakti.
➡️ Complaint ke base par court process start hota hai, na ki police inquiry.
🔹 Example:
Agar kisi ne aapki badnami ki hai (defamation),
to aap Magistrate ke paas complaint file karte ho — police FIR nahi likhti.
