A woman once had a daughter with a disturbing ability.

Whenever the girl dreamed of fighting with someone, that person would soon die.

Over time, she dreamed of battling her mother's fiercest rivals, and one by one they perished, troublesome women from the market, neighbours from the community, all met their end.

The woman's husband was known to have several girlfriends. One day, the daughter dreamed she had fought with her own father.

When she told her mother, the woman was pleased rather than alarmed. Soon after, the father died.

Later, the daughter dreamed of fighting with her paternal grandmother.

Again, the mother rejoiced, believing another enemy had fallen. The grandmother passed away shortly thereafter.

With all perceived threats eliminated, the woman felt victorious. But then came the unexpected twist: the daughter dreamed she had fought with her own mother.

That is where South Africa has now arrived.
