The New Castle County Democratic Committee joins the State Party in sending our condolences to Systma-Sherman family on the passing of David.

The Delaware Democratic Party is heartbroken by the passing of David Sytsma-Sherman, a deeply committed member of the Wilmington 8th Ward Democratic Committee and a true champion for his community. David gave his time, energy, and heart to the work he believed in, and his kindness, passion, and dedication touched so many. We hold his family, friends, and fellow Democrats close in our thoughts during this painful time. David’s spirit and service will always be remembered, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Statement on the passing of former State Representative John Kawalko from the NCC Democratic Committee.

The entire NCC Democratic committee sends our thoughts and condolences to the Kowalko family as they mourn the loss of former State Representative John Kowalko.

Representative Kowalko was an advocate for working families and progressive causes that made the lives of Delawareans better. He championed causes that are near and dear to the Party. He can be credited with pushing the Delaware Democratic Party's platform to be more inclusive, advocating for changes that included raising the minimum wage, being explicitly pro-union, and supporting paid family leave among so many others.

When Representative Kowalko saw an injustice there was nothing that would stop him from making it better. It didn't matter if it was unpopular or no one else wanted to fix it, it was Representative Kowalko who was jumping into the fire. We will remember him as a champion for the issues that mattered the most to Delawareans. He will be missed.
