This car is cool. What makes it even cooler is that it was owned by one of the most prolific athletes of the 20th century. A man who not only made his mark in the ring, but came out swinging when it came to important social issues. Even when he was against the ropes, he always managed to find his way out and in this case, into a stunning Rolls-Royce. He purchased this car brand new and owned it for six years until selling it to its second owner. Itβs still in mostly original condition and has not been fully restored. Although improvements have been made over the years. You know this car is real deal because it comes with a copy of Clay's Temporary Drivers License; Netherlands registration papers; a photo book and a copy of the photograph taken of Muhammad Ali and his close friend βͺDiana Rossβ¬ with the Rolls-Royce outside Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas before Ali's fight with Joe Bugner in February 1973. If youβre a little more humble than Ali and worried about what driving a Rolls-Royce might say, remember βitβs not bragging if you can back it upβ and this car certainly can help will that. π

There is no denying that this car punches above its weight class given its obtainable $47k to $71k pre auction estimate. In fact, 84% of you want to float like a butterfly and drive like Ali making us agree with mainemandan, saabstory91, and midnightspy in that this car will likely sell for more than $100k, especially if the arena allows for two or more heavy weights π

Is the 930 Turbo really a widowmaker? π€·π»ββοΈ
Itβs hard to look at any 930 Turbo and not immediately associate it with its most famous nickname. But if weβre being honest, weβve never driven one. So we want to hear from those who Chasers have - does the 930 really require a life insurance policy to pilot or is the title over rated? π

Despite having never driven one, the three of us have always been in love with 930 turbos. Thatβs before you add in the cool factor of the βwidowmakerβ nickname. While it may seem odd for car enthusiasts to still love something that allegedly tries to kill, we actually think it makes sense. The 930 has a reputation for turbo lag to the extreme that can abruptly switched on or off like a light switch. Abuse it and youβll be in a ditch. But master it, and the 930 will reward you with plenty of good times behind the wheel. And maybe its this challenge that gives the 930 Turbo such mystique. So while we keep hoping weβll get the chance to drive one, those who are brave enough can pick us this pristine example today π

COTD comes from avbautomedia, βWidow Maker, hmmmm? It's 1995, I'm driving my 1986 Alfa GTV6 from Brooklyn to Long Island. I come upon a black 930 cruising the Belt Parkway. I pull along side, he immediately puts the hammer down hard. Lots of noise, no real acceleration, I downshift to 3rd and pull ahead. 5 seconds later he blows my doors off with an amazing turn of speed. I acknowledge defeat, we both smile and settle into a fast cruise, about 100mph. As we pass the Sunrise Highway, suddenly traffic ahead comes to a halt. We both slam on the brakes hard. Our front ends dive for the pavement, with tails in the air, like puppies stalking a Hot Wheels toy. The 930 out brakes me, he's now behind me. There's an exit on the right, we are still going at a heady clip, maybe 65mph and still braking for the exit, but it has a closing radius. As I hug the curve with classic Alfa body rolI, I glance up and the 930 is gone from my rear view. I pull over after the curve, get out, and start running towards the exit. There's the 930 on the grass. Facing the highway we just exited. Driver panting, white as my morning oatmeal. Hands still on the wheel. I run around the car, no damage thankfully, driver was fine too, just in shock at what he thought was an unlikely pirouette. So, that 930 didn't take a life. But one things certain, the 930 is definitely a heart stopper. Just ask the 930 driver who was on the Belt, just past the Sunrise, in the summer of 1995.β π
